What type of posts are we looking for?

We look for quality travel writing on any travel-related topic. Popular topics include travel anecdotes, travel tips, reflective pieces, and cultural pieces. Your post should appeal to our audience, which consists mostly of backpackers and budget travelers. If you have a guest post idea you want to run by us, please use the site’s contact form to reach us.

Guest post guidelines

Your guest post must comply with our Terms of Use and Member Contract. Additional things you should know are:

  1. All posts must be written in English.
  2. We will not publish any post that is less than 400 words.
  3. Any content you submit must be original. We do not accept previously published work, including work already published to a personal blog.
  4. Once your post is published to backpackforever.com, you may not republish it to your own site or any other site without our prior written approval.
  5. Any photo(s) you submit with your post must be your own, or you must have prior written approval to use the photo(s). Photos sourced from Flickr, or a similar site, under a Creative Commons license must include a link to the creator.
  6. You must submit at least one (1) photo with your post. Please include captions as necessary.
  7. Any backlinks you include in your post must be approved by our editors. We reserve the right to remove any or all backlinks.
  8. We reserve the right to make editing changes. These may include formatting changes; spelling, grammar, and punctuation fixes; and edits to your title, headings, and image captions.
  9. We do not accept corporate marketing posts.

Will you receive credit?

Absolutely. Your name, photo, bio and link to your website will appear in the “About the Author” section at the bottom of the post. In addition, your post will be published to the Stories and BF News section on BackpackForever.com, and distributed through Backpack Forever’s various social media outlets, including Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and StumbleUpon.
