You have today 2 days of market, Mondays and Fridays. You can see many pictures if you look for Dajabon Market pictures. Officially, the border crossing is through the bridge, but on market days, many will cross through the river with 1/4 of fresh beef on the shoulder that will be cut into small pieces on the Haitian border. Because there is no electricity in this north side of Haiti, they do come to the market to buy big blocks of ice. I have been told that every week, the market handles 25,000,000 RD pesos. In a few days, the 27th of April, a quite big blue building will be opened on 2 floors, so most of them settled on the ground will be in a better and cleaner environment. When you see some of the people in the market, they do struggle for survival, they do struggle only for food. It is good to not forget about them, it is good to remember their life so you do complain much less about yours!!!
