Locally-Recommended Pupusa Joint

Our Los Chorros tour guide recommended Dona Cony's to us as the best pupusa place in town, and we are pretty sure he got it right. It's a proper restaurant located 4 blocks east and 1 block south of the main square on Avenida 2. They offer your basic variety of pupusa flavors and range from $0.25-0.50 per pupusa. The two times we ate there, it was jam-packed with locals, so you know it's good.

If you want something a little different, try pupuseria Esmerelda. They make huge pupusas (which I like better, there's a better balance between masa and filling) and offer different ingredients like chicken, squash, loroco (flower often used in Salvadoran cooking), and other tasty treats you don't usually find in a pupusa! It's up the hill from Hostel Casa Mazeta, they can tell you exactly how to get there in the hostel.
