General Advice

What To Bring

by Allen about 4 years ago

Sossusvlei lies in the oldest desert in the world, the Namib Desert, along the west coast of Namibia. Seeing that it is desert, it gets VERY hot and sunny. Temperatures are likely to raise to as high as 50 degrees in the summer, which is from December to February. Bring along the following:

- Closed hiking shoes, as the sand dunes can get really hot. (and for the occasional scorpion that you may encounter)
- Sunscreen
- Some nausea tablets (for the flight)
- Binoculars
- Camera
- A jacket or pull-over for the cooler nights
- Some extra money for gate fees and tips
- Lip balm
- A notepad to jot down some of your fondest memories
- An iPad to listen to some music in the quiet times
- A good book to read while you are lying next to a pool or peacefully in your room
- Do not forget to pack all the important medicine that you might need on the trip
- A walking stick is optional
- A good quality pair of sunglasses
- A lot of energy, passion, excitement and questions
