Original Cao Dai Temple

Caodaism, a uniquely Vietnamese religion, incorporates aspects of Catholicism, Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism. The design of the original temple, completed in 1955 after 20 years of construction, is remarkable in that it reflects influences from multiple religions. It is very different from other religious buildings. Service is held four times a day beginning at 6am. If you decide to go, dress appropriately.

Fishing for Lunch

Somewhere in Tay Ninh, there is a stocked, outdoor Olympic-sized pool that has been turned into a fishing retreat, complete with bridges and huts built along the edges of the pool. This is where locals go to fish for fun. When you land a fish, your host (the cook) races over with a mallet to knock your catch unconscious. The fish, some sort of over-sized perch, is immediately taken to the kitchen and brought back out to you fried and on a bed of vegetables and herbs. It was beyond great. Gear is provided.
