Fantastic outdoor music and dance venue set among the ruins at Monumento Ruinas de San Francisco off Duarte and Juan Isidro Perez. Romantic setting, lively atmosphere, and colorful dancers. The live band, Grupo Bonye, plays salsa, bachata, son, bolero, and merengue from 5pm - 10pm every Sunday. If you're in the Zona Colonial, don't miss it!

Guaguas from Las Americas Airport to the City Center

During daylight hours, guaguas (shuttle buses) run from the airport to the center of Santo Domingo. You can catch one from the 2nd floor Arrivals entrance (left side) for 70 pesos (less than $2). Otherwise, a taxi will run anywhere from $7-40+ depending on the hour of day. The first guagua leaves around 7:30am.

Local Transport Options

A couple of options for getting around town: taxis, carros (shared car), guaguas (local bus), & motoconchos (motor taxi). Taxis are, of course, the most convenient but not the most cost effective mode of transportation. If you have to take a taxi, I recommend Excelent (809 788 3000). Carros are also fairly convenient although you'll need to know your routes to make sure you take the right carro. If you're staying in the Zono Colonial, the Plaza Independencia seems to be a good place to pick up a carro or guagua, both around 25 pesos per ride. Motoconchos are a final option but tend to cost more.

Always efficient and low-cost. Call their main number at 809 788 3000 to schedule a pick-up. The going rate seems to be about 150 pesos to go anywhere in town no matter the hour of day. For your safety, always ask the make and color of the car.
