Meet Matt & Tran
In July 2010, Matt and Tran said goodbye to their friends and families and headed to the airport to embark on a 5-month journey through Central and South America. If you've seen a BF flier, it means they've been there!
Although they have both traveled extensively in the past, this is their first big trip together and their first attempt at the 4-hour workweek. What a journey it has been both personally and professionally!
When Matt and Tran returned to the U.S. in early December, they immediately began work on Version 2.0, which launched on May 2011. In addition to the new layout, additional site features make it possible for backpackers to share experiences and tips, seek advice, and maintain contact with other backpackers. Who are Matt and Tran?
Matt is an investment banker and entrepreneur. He loves to fish and is always looking for a new fishing hole. If you want to find him, look for the guy with the fishing rod tied to his backpack! Favorite experiences abroad include fishing for tarpon with the Kunas in San Blas, visiting the favelas in Rio, and diamond shopping in Old Delhi.
Tran decided to take a break from big law after logging thousands of hours to Carpe Diem, her firm's billing software. Rather than track her day in 6-minute increments, Tran seizes the day by doing what she loves most. Highlights abroad include meeting the Dalai Lama, taking shots of snake blood with relatives, and wreckdiving in the Philippines.
Why Backpack Forever?
Matt and Tran founded BackpackForever.com with two goals in mind: to consolidate and record the communal wisdom of the backpacking community and to help backpackers get paid while traveling. It is their hope that they will be able to inspire both experienced travel bloggers, as well as those who have never considered writing about their travels before, to contribute their wisdom. It is their hope that this collaborative effort will ensure that accurate and reliable information is made available to tomorrow's backpackers.
